Another New Baby!!!

I knew it was soon she kept trying to seclude herself yesterday!! But we had another calf early this morning.. Its was still wet! I dont want to say for sure bull or heifer till I can get closer. She is keeping him well away from us mean people that give her treats!!lol I am almost positive its a boy though.. She started pawing the ground at me and rolling her eyes so I figured I had better make myself scarce!! Anyways there is calf #2!!

YEAAAAAAA
Love new babies! 'Specially love new baby BOYS! We have enough girls! This one does look like a boy, but... that's the umbilicus... isn't it? I think I'd reserve judgment as well. That corner is where the coyotes come from... she'd better watch out! That's also where the deeeeeep mud is. It could swallow him up whole! Well, maybe not, but he could get stuck in at least part of the year.
Too bad she's staying so far away. She's got such a big udder, I thought she'd give lots-o-milk.

So very sweet! She's not keeping you away because you're mean, but because she doesn't want to share those yummy treats!

Dana,
There's a reasonable possiblity that the calf is a girl. This is Steakette's mom. The last people in Tonia's house thought we had all boys last year. Imagine my surprise when I pull in the driveway & see a 4 month old heifer! Now, when they're first born, the umbilicus can be swollen (why we're not quite sure now.) But, that resolves in a few days. I just look at how they pee. Out the back for a girl from the middle for a boy. But, if Mamma is keeping Tonia away & baby secluded, she wouldn't see that. But... my guess is Tonia w/ know loooooooong before the 4 month mark!!! :)
The last people were supposed to be in the pastures handling the stock to keep them tame. The horses were all they had any interest in, except when it came time for meat from the processor. Then they were front & center, taking the best for their freezer. They're gone.
I'm pulling for a boy tho! He'll keep Sirloin company in the cold. :)

If it's a boy I think you should name him tri-tip:))) And milkshake for a girl.

I'd never have thought of Milkshake!

I like milkshake, even if you have to hollar it, it sounds good. I tried it in my house:)
